Our priority for the next three years is to:
Reduce serious injury rates among all children and young people. In particular, we want to reduce the marked inequalities between richer and poorer children
To support this priority, our objectives are to:
Engage with families and communities through innovative educational campaigns and resources. Our aim is to benefit all children and young people but target those at greatest risk of death and serious injury from preventable accidents.
Provide an authoritative source of information, support and networking for practitioners and policy makers interested in child accident prevention. We will use our links with researchers to share learning about what works.
Build beneficial partnerships with charitable, statutory and commercial organisations to extend the reach of our work. We will focus on those supporting children and young people at greatest risk of death and serious injury from preventable accidents.
Raise the profile of child accident prevention with key stakeholders, and highlight the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s role as the leading charity in the field.
We have ambitious plans for the future including:
Developing our website. We want our website to become the acknowledged expert source of advice and information on child accident prevention for families – and those who support them.
Reaching more families with our safety messages. We want to extend the reach of Child Safety Week, launch new campaigns and distribute more educational resources.
Developing our picture-based booklets for parents with poor literacy . We want to develop more booklets in the series. And we want to extend the distribution of the booklets – we particularly want to target disadvantaged communities where serious accidents are most common and poor literacy most widespread.
But we can’t achieve all this without your help. We need you to:
Promote our website www.capt.org.uk, spreading the word to family, friends and colleagues. You can also place a link to our site from your organisation’s website.
