CAPT offers expert training packages on an extensive range of topics to
multi-disciplinary and specialist groups across the UK and overseas.
The standard training packages are:
an introduction to child accident prevention
home safety
play and leisure safety
working with parents
developing and implementing local child safety action plans
accident prevention and risk management in child-care
risk assessment in child-care and home settings and
practices
12 hr paediatric first aid for child-carers
fitting and checking child car seats
Each of the packages can be adapted to suit the particular needs and
experience of the participants, and we can also create tailor-made
packages by combining elements from the standard packages, e.g. child
accident prevention and risk assessment.
Where relevant, our training packages cover OFSTED, EYFS and other government
guidelines in relation to
child accident prevention.
Audiences
CAPT's training is relevant for a variety of managers and staff,
providing an introduction for those new to injury prevention or
bringing new perspectives to those with experience. Typical
audiences include:
Sure Start children's centres staff and managers
early years workers and OFSTED inspectors
managers and staff in pre-school or out of school provision
nursery nurses and community nursery nurses

road safety officers
fire and rescue service staff
family support organisations such as HomeStart
foster carers
nursery goods and child car seat retailers
businesses
We also train people involved in the provision and maintenance of play
facilities, covering topics including playground equipment standards,
developing maintenance regimes, and achieving an appropriate balance
between checking and maintaining equipment. More information ...
Style of training
Sessions are interactive and participants are provided with handouts
and other supporting materials to use with colleagues or client groups.
The training is always adapted to reflect the knowledge and experience
of the group.
We recommend 12 - 20 participants to a session to ensure the group
dynamics work well. We can, of course, take larger groups as
required.
Training sessions can be offered over a whole or a half day, and can be
arranged to suit working patterns. They are run in your local
area to minimise travel time and costs.
Our trainers
CAPT's trainers are experienced both in providing training and as
practitioners in child accident prevention. We have worked
with them for many years and continue to ensure that their knowledge is
up to date.
Costs
Our charges reflect the length of the training session. A
full day's session involving a standard package costs £650
and a half day £400. Travel and accommodation costs
are paid in addition by the purchaser. Venue and catering
arrangements are made by the purchaser to ensure maximum flexibility
and keep your costs down.
If you wish to purchase more than three training sessions
in a year we
will be able to offer discounted rates.
We can take bookings and payments now for sessions to be run in the
next financial year.
