No one may use our name, our logo or the logo for Child Safety Week without our express written consent. The Child Accident Prevention Trust logo and the Child Safety Week logo have both been trademarked.
Logo use forms part of the agreement with a business partner and we supply supporters with branding guidelines. Find out more about corporate partnerships with us.
Our name and logo have been used as part of a well known scam, where money is obtained by deception. We are not the only charity whose name has been used by fraudsters in this way.
The scam involves people contacting traders, claiming that they are raising money for a charity, often by producing and selling a publication (for example, a calendar or booklet) with proceeds going to the charity.
Traders are invited to advertise in the publication. Pressure may be subsequently applied to the traders to pay for the advertising space that the fraudsters claim has been ordered. Such publications are rarely produced and no money ever reaches the charity.
If you are approached by anyone purporting to be raising funds on our behalf, contact us to check if it is genuine. Please speak to Bill Giles on 020 7608 7363.
There is very little that we and other charities can do to stop such scams. We have spoken to the Charity Commission and trading standards officers who have told us that they are aware of these scams but prosecuting the perpetrators is difficult.
The best protection is to check out any claims as soon as you are approached.
