For Child Safety Week 2017, we are honouring the power of sharing to keep children safe. We know that nothing has more impact than the voice of experience.
A friend shudders recounting the horrible shock of their child coming close to a serious accident; a health visitor shares stories about accidents they’ve seen; the local paper’s front page features parents whose child died in an accident, sharing what they’ve learnt so others don’t suffer. The strongest voices are the ones we relate to and respect.
This Child Safety Week our theme is Safe children: sharing is caring. We are asking friends, families, communities and professionals to show they care by sharing their experience and knowledge – not just about the horrors of accidents, but also the really practical, simple things they do to prevent them.
