Public Health England (PHE) will shortly publish a new guide to preventing unintentional injuries for all frontline staff working with families with children under five.
Developed in collaboration with the Child Accident Prevention Trust, the practical guide outlines key injury issues, providing data, safety advice and safety messages for parents that fit in with the timing of the health reviews at birth, nine months and 2-2½ years.
Free regional launch events
CAPT will launch the guide at four regional events for commissioners and managers of public health, early years and health visiting services:
- London: Thursday 2 March 2017
- Leeds: Tuesday 7 March 2017
- Bristol: Friday 10 March 2017
- Birmingham: Thursday 23 March 2017.
The free events will explore effective commissioning and service delivery, so that evidence-based interventions are integrated into early years service specifications, and frontline staff are supported to build safety advice into routine contacts with parents.
