Magnetic toys recalled by Office for Product Safety and Standards

On 28 November 2022, the Office for Product Safety and Standards issued product recalls for seven magnetic toys sold by Wish and Amazon.

All the toys had a magnetic strength significantly higher than the permitted limit in UK toy safety standards. In one case, the magnetic cube in a tin of putty was 17 times stronger than permitted.

Small, high-powered magnetic products are easily swallowed and can cause serious internal injuries in a child’s gut.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards has ordered that the products be recalled and removed from the online marketplaces.
